'Good Samaritans' Save Blind Man Who Fell Onto Maryland Subway Tracks

A blind man who fell onto train tracks in Bethesda, Maryland, had a lucky escape on April 9 when a group of bystanders helped him back onto a platform.

The incident happened at the Medical Center Metro station when the man, who is blind and uses a cane, took a tumble over the edge onto the tracks. A train was on route and bystanders soon realized the man needed assistance. In the footage, people waiting for trains are seen working together to get help and get the man back to safety.

In a statement on the matter, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority called the helpers “good samaritans.” It said that Transit Police and medics responded and the man was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
