Heavy rain in central Ecuador triggered several landslides, washing out roads and isolating a village, footage released on Monday, April 22, by the Ecuadorian emergency services showed.

According to the Ecuadorian emergency services, the heavy rain over the weekend increased the flow of a creek in the south of the province of Chimborazo, resulting in several roads being washed out, isolating a village.

The national secretary of risks, Jorge Carrillo, told local media on Monday that emergency crews were transporting humanitarian aid to the affected families and starting to restore the affected routes.
