"The authorities have been making announcements and instructing us to stay alert. We walk in groups whenever we leave the house, we avoid going anywhere alone at night because many such incidents of wolf attacks have been taking place recently."

Residents in several villages of northern Uttar Pradesh state have been living with the fear of wolf attacks for the past two months, officials said.

District authorities including forest officials, and security forces, used drones and set traps on Wednesday (August 28) to trace and tranquillise the large canines.

Forest officials made announcements across villages to take precautionary measures, asking villagers to sleep indoors for protection.
