London Zoo Reopens With Tributes to Prince Philip

3 年前
Visitors returned to London Zoo as it reopened to the public after the third national lockdown. The zoo paid tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh, remembering his support for the Zoological Society of London’s conservation work. Prince Philip was President of the Zoological Society of London from 1960 to 1977, and an Honorary Fellow from 1977. His Royal Highness visited ZSL zoos on several occasions, including with the Queen in 2016 to open the Land of the Lions exhibit. London Zoo closed its gates for 18 weeks in 2020, following coronavirus lockdowns. The ZSL says the enforced closures have put its zoos under financial pressure, as income from ticket sales is used to care for the animals and fund global conservation efforts.
