The airline said it benefited from strong summer travel and demand from people trying to avoid a global cyber outage that had a major impact on other airlines.

Bookings got a boost following the outage caused by a software update by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike that led to thousands of delays and cancelations at Delta and other carriers.

JetBlue said revenue could rise 1% in its third quarter when it previously predicted a fall of 1.5% as its best-case scenario.

An analyst from Citigroup called the update encouraging.

JetBlue cited stronger bookings in Latin America, one of its major markets, and gains from previously announced cost cuts and cancellations of less-profitable routes for the forecast raise.

The efforts to improve its financial performance follow the termination of its proposed $3.8 billion merger with ultra-low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines in March.
