Yahoo TV Landslides, floods as heavy rains hit China's south

Water levels at Poyang Lake, China's largest freshwater lake, have risen above alert levels, while the Xiushan section of the Meijiang River in Chongqing is experiencing its worst flooding this year, as reported by CCTV.
An access road leading to a village in Jiujiang, Jiangxi province was cut off due to floodwaters, while a section of the national highway in Chongqing had to be temporarily closed off after prolonged heavy rainfall caused a huge landslide, with rescue efforts still ongoing.
Recent years have seen an increase in extreme weather events, challenging China's emergency response capabilities, particularly in coping with more severe floods.
