Clashes Between Protesting Fishermen and Police in Rennes

Fishermen protested against what they see as constraints on their profession in Rennes, France, on Wednesday, March 22, local media reported, amid demonstrations across the country against pension reform.

The fishermen were protesting rising fuel prices, fishing bans, and EU regulations, according to local media outlets.

Local media reported some protesters attempted to gain access to the Parliament of Brittany and set off smoke bombs and fireworks. Police used water cannons against protesters and fired tear gas into the crowd, local media reported.

At least nine people were arrested and three injured during the protesting, local media reported.
