Kharkiv's Monument to Taras Shevchenko Protected by Sandbags

A monument to Ukrainian poet Taras Shevchenko in Kharkiv was covered with sandbags on Saturday, March 26, to protect it from Russian shelling.

Shevchenko was a 19th century poet, writer, and artist who became an important figure in the Ukrainian National Revival, according to the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv.
