Lava fountains were seen erupting in the southern part of the lava lake at Kilauea’s summit on Hawaii’s Big Island on October 4, official footage shows.

Video shared to Twitter by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) shows lava fountains in the deep lava lake at Halema‘uma‘u crater. According to the USGS, the video from October 4 shows “the dominant fountain at the west vent from two different angles and the smaller fountain source emerging through the lava lake.”
