Lightning Streaks Through Nebraska Sky as Thunderstorms Hit Region

Bolts of lightning streaked through the sky above eastern Nebraska in the early hours of Sunday, October 24, as severe weather impacted the region.

Police in Council Bluffs, Iowa — adjacent to Omaha — reported that power lines were struck by lightning overnight. In Lincoln, Nebraska, a charity race was cancelled due to safety concerns, according to authorities.

This footage — slowed down to capture lightning bolts — was filmed in the early hours of Sunday by Twitter user @spclincoln1056, who said it was taken from Waverly, a town located northeast of Lincoln.
