Michael Jordan sneakers expected to break auction record

STORY: The single lot is projected to sell for between $2 and $4 million.

The shoes were worn in game two of the 1998 NBA finals were Jordan scored 37 points. They're considered to be in remarkable condition with big silver signatures by Jordan.

Brahm said they are two things that make the shoes rare.

“Michael Jordan, when he first started, you know, wearing Air Jordans or, you know, they were getting the Air Jordans ready for him. He wore black and red ones, which were actually banned by the league… so, bred, sneakers, black and red sneakers have always sort of had this mythical relationship with, with sneakerheads,” he explained.

“Second of all, you know, this is actually the last signature shoe that you could buy while Michael Jordan was still, you know, a member of the Bulls that was sort of in stores during that playoff run,” he added.

The auction house is also hosting a second sale that includes various sports memorable also from Jordan and other basketball stars. In addition to soccer legend Pele and tennis and NFL stars.

Bidding for the items is open until April 11th.
