At least 25 people were killed and dozens were injured after a destructive tornado ripped through western Mississippi on Friday, March 24, officials said.

Footage captured by Robert Alan Maharrey shows mangled trees and debris strewn across streets in Amory, as well as locals hanging a US flag on the front of a badly damaged building early Saturday morning.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency warned locals to be aware of nails when walking on debris in the area.

The City of Amory and Amory Police Department said a temporary curfew would be put in place and said the town’s water department “suffered a direct hit.”
