Gas main break closes Light Street

Light Street is closed downtown Wednesday afternoon as crews work on a gas main break. Baltimore City fire officials told 11 News that crews were called to the unit block of Light Street for a natural gas rupture involving a 36-inch gas main. The Baltimore City Department of Transportation closed Light Street between Mercer and East Lombard streets. Baltimore Gas and Electric told 11 News that a contractor was performing excavation work in the area when it discovered the gas main break.
