The family of Henrietta Lacks settled a lawsuit against the biotech company Thermo Fisher Scientific late Monday night. The settlement reached after daylong negotiations at federal court in Baltimore stems from the family's allegations about the use of Lacks' cells following her death without her permission, which were used -- and still are used -- for medical research.
