Palestinian killed in West Bank car-ramming attack

STORY: The man was identified as 54-years-old Habbas Rayyan, according to Palestinian officials. The Israeli military has yet to confirm the death but Palestinian officials say they were informed Rayyan was killed by an Israeli liaison office.

The attack occurred at Maccabim Checkpoint, on road 443 which leads from the central city of Modi'in to Jerusalem, the Israeli military said in a statement.

Israeli emergency services said they were treating a 20-year-old male with limb injuries who was in severe condition.

The incident follows months of tensions that have deepened since Israeli forces began a crackdown in the West Bank in March in response to a series of attacks by Palestinians in Israel. On Sunday, A Palestinian was shot dead after he carried out a car-ramming attack against Israeli soldiers in the West Bank.
