Residents Evacuated From Donetsk Arrive in Taganrog, Russia

Residents evacuated from Donetsk, Ukraine, by Russian-backed separatists arrived in Taganrog, Russia, on Saturday, February 19, and were left on buses in freezing temperatures, according to Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL).

This footage by Current Time shows elderly people and children on buses in Taganrog. One passenger said they had been kept on buses for 12 hours.

Russia-backed separatists began carrying out an order for “a mass centralized departure of the population to the Russian Federation,” beginning with “women, children and the elderly,” on Friday.
