Rubble cleared from streets of Mariupol

STORY: Workers of Russia's Ministry of Emergency Situations were seen clearing rubble, chopping wood for local citizens and providing them with water. One of local residents, Sergei, said his home had been destroyed by shelling.

Russia declared victory over Mariupol on April 21 after weeks of siege and shelling. The Azovstal steel plant is the last part of the city still held by Ukrainian fighters.

Mariupol was home to more than 400,000 people before the war. Following mass evacuations, some arranged by the U.N. and ICRC, local authorities say Mariupol now has between 150,000 and 170,000 residents.
