Spain's wildfires rage as heatwave peaks

STORY: No homes have been damaged so far in Ladrillar, but a few hundred people living in neighbouring villages have been evacuated as a precautionary measure.

The fire on Tuesday (July 12) raged out of control into neighboring Salamanca province in the region of Castille and Leon.

Authorities in Extremadura and Castille and Leon said the wind had been favorable to firefighting efforts overnight and they had managed to stabilize some flanks of the fire.

The blaze nevertheless continues to be active and is considered a level two risk factor, where one is the most dangerous.
