Lifeboat crews from Britain's Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) do great work saving humans who get into trouble at sea. But what you may not know is that they also regularly save pets and wildlife in watery peril. A new book, Saved from the Waves, showcases their most amazing animal rescues from Wally the Walrus - the massive mammal who has captured hearts across the UK and Ireland and took up home in their lifeboat station to Flossy - a dog who needed saving after a terrifying fall off a cliff RNLI staff rescuers have some incredible tales to tell. They have rescued stricken horses cats who didn't let their species' aversion to water stop their adventures deer, seals, and puffins and even a humpback whale. The new book documents rescuers animal exploits and went on sale on 14 April 2022. Proceeds from the book will help the lifesaving charity keep up its work saving humans as well as the odd animal in need of help.
