Critically Endangered California Condor Lays First Egg of Season in Arizona

A critically endangered California condor laid the first confirmed egg of the breeding season in Marble Canyon, Arizona.

According to the Peregrine Fund, a birds of prey conservation organization, their biologists located the egg on March 9. This video taken by Alan Clampitt of the Peregrine Fund shows a pair of condors nesting with their egg.

“We are excited to see if this first time pair can successfully hatch their egg, which will be incubated by both the female and the male for approximately 57 days,” said Tim Hauck, the Peregrine Fund’s Condor Program Director.
