Chinese military officials said a strong earthquake struck Lushan County in Sichuan province on June 1, with four deaths and 14 injuries reported.

While Chinese officials reported that the earthquake had a magnitude of 6.1, the US Geological Survey registered a lower magnitude of 5.9, with a depth of about six miles.

The Chinese People’s Armed Police Force released this video showing a camp that provided emergency accommodation and aid that night. The police said officers and soldiers transferred 310 people, built 106 tents, checked more than 500 households, evacuated five kilometers of roads, and rescued eight wounded people.
