Gas Fire Blazes in Texas After Pipeline Hit by Car

Hundreds of residents in Mansfield, Texas, were evacuated from their homes after a vehicle struck a natural gas pipeline causing a large fire in the early hours of March 23.

At around 1 am, a vehicle hit a natural gas pipeline near an Exxon service station at the intersection of Highway 360 and US road 287, the Mansfield Fire Department said.

People living within a one-mile radius of the incident were asked to evacuate to a local elementary school, the fire service said. They were allowed to return home by 4 am as the huge blaze was brought under control.
