Humpback whale spotted off Sydney coast

STORY: The Seven Network news helicopter was flying around the coast when they spotted the whale enjoying the sunny conditions.

Up to 5,000 humpbacks migrate north up Australia's east coast between April and August each year from waters in the Antarctic to feed and breed in warm tropical waters.

From about September, the whales return to Antarctica from the warmer northern waters, where they raise their young.
