Hundreds of Arabs in Israel march to mark Land Day

STORY: Both Palestinians and Israeli Arabs commemorate the killing of six Arab citizens of the Jewish state by Israeli security forces during protests in 1976 over government land confiscations in northern Israel, an event now known as “Land Day”.

The annual remembrances in Israel have largely passed off quietly. But in the Israeli Arab town of Sakhnin—the center of the violence in 1976— hundreds gathered for a rally, which was addressed by lawmakers and community leaders.
