A walrus was spotted taking a rest on rocks in the bay of the Northumberland coastal village of Seahouses on Sunday morning, November 14.

Tynemouth Seal Hospital urged people to stay away if they do come across the mammal and to make sure they give it space to rest.

Andy Sisson from the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BDMLR) told the Northumberland Gazette that the walrus was a juvenile female that could weigh up to three-quarters of a tonne.

The walrus had moved on from the area by Monday, November 15, local media reported.
