STORY: Local authorities have taken emergency measures to try to contain the flooding with lorries seen unloading sand and earth to construct an embankment on the river bank.

Residents have also been seen placing sandbags in front of walls, doors and windows in an effort to protect their homes and property.

Hungary and the Western Balkans have been hit with significant flooding following heavy rainfall, in the last days.

Neighbouring Kosovo’s meteorological institute said more floods were expected in the next days.
