Thousands Arrive at Slovakia Border From Ukraine

Thousands of people fleeing Ukraine after it was invaded by Russia were processed at border checkpoints in Slovakia on February 27, according to state authorities.

Slovakia police said 15,968 arrived from Ukraine on February 27, 13,940 of whom were citizens of Ukraine. Police said waiting times at border crossings were between 8 and 12 hours.

People forced to flee had also been arriving at the borders of other neighboring European states. Poland reported that 327,000 people had arrived from Ukraine since February 24 when Russia invaded. Credit: Slovak Police Force via Storyful
