"We have a glimpse of hope that the road is accessible and we can reach the people," he said.

U.N. Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator ad Interim for Syria, El-Mostafa Benlamlih, said the most pressing needs were for search and rescue equipment, food and medical supplies, and winter necessities to protect against the cold weather.
