MUSEUM DIRECTOR, LOUIS NG:

"We need to promote the transmission and dissemination of Chinese culture, especially among the youth in Hong Kong. We must provide them with more opportunities to understand and appreciate traditional Chinese culture. Meanwhile, through this museum, we also hope to foster the interaction of diverse cultures across the world. In addition to displaying the treasures of the Palace Museum, we also display the art and civilizations of other countries. We would want to see interaction across cultures."

The museum

was a gift from Beijing

to mark 25 years since

the territory’s return to Chinese rule
