Hundreds attend cremation of slain Hindu man

STORY: Kanhaiya Lal Teli was killed in his tailor shop in the tourist town of Udaipur on Tuesday (June 28).

Two Muslim men, seen brandishing a meat cleaver in a video, said they were avenging an insult to Prophet Mohammad caused by the victim.

Scores of people attended Teli's cremation on Wednesday.

“They should be publicly hanged,” said Teli’s son Yash, after attending his father’s last rites.

India's Home Minister Amit Shah said in a tweet that federal police had taken over the investigation into "the brutal murder" of Teli.

Police in Rajasthan banned public gatherings and suspended internet services on Wednesday, fearing outbreaks of religious violence.
