STORY: Maymi Asgari is a football freestyler and a TikTok sensation.

Her hope is she can use her social media fame to normalize Hijab-wearing players

and inspire girls from all backgrounds to take on the male-dominated sport.

"I try to... I try to fight against the problem there is between my gender and my sport, the way that I try to normalise the ideal football player. I want to show that, yeah, I wear the hijab and I'm Muslim and I am a woman, but it doesn't mean that I can't play football. I can do the exact same thing as everybody else can do."

Asgari was born and raised in Denmark.

During the World Cup, she started uploading videos of her performing freestyling tricks like this outside stadiums in Qatar.

They started gaining traction online.

With one post getting 19.6 million views on TikTok.

"It's a very great feeling. I love the fact that I am getting credit for things I have done for many years, and I love to inspire other people, especially kids, to show them that, no matter how you look and what you believe in, you can achieve what you want. Ronaldinho was the first player I saw as a kid doing tricks and do creative stuff with the football. And I just loved the way he played with the football. It was...it was like it was part of his body and I always inspired that and I try to copy him in so many ways. I have always used this quote saying: 'Don't change yourself, but change the game.' And many of my teammates - I am born and raised in Denmark - many of my teammates are blond and not Muslim. But I didn't want to change and look like them just to be in the game. I tried to change the game so I could be in it."
