Prague celebrates Czech EU presidency with parade

STORY: Dozens of performers marched in the city's old town carrying flags of EU countries and a large metallic lion puppet was paraded and displayed in the Old Town Square.

Organizer Jakub Verdral said the lion was a symbol to encourage people to find "the power of a lion's heart" within themselves, as Czech Republic takes over the EU's presidency.

The Czech Republic will be at the head of the 27-member bloc from Friday (July 1), taking over after France.
