New salon promotes LGBTQ inclusivity in Mumbai

STORY: Set up jointly by Deutsche Bank and the Rotary Club of Bombay, the salon provides avenues of employment, visibility and inclusion for various members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community.

"So, I was very excited when I heard about this and more so because I feel everybody has talent in them we only have to give them a good platform where they can come and practice their talent," said customer Rosette Vmello.

As in many parts of the world, LGBTQ people face stigma in India and often struggle finding employment. In South Asia, transgender women – known as 'hijras' and widely recognized as a third gender – still face extreme marginalization.
