Thousands hot-foot it to SE Asia's first 'Sneaker Con'

STORY: According to organisers, around 15,000 attendees were expected to attend the two-day convention, with around 10% of ticket sales estimated to have come from overseas.

Singaporean sneaker artist Mark Ong, AKA Mister Sabotage, said there is a lot of attention on Asian sneaker culture right now, as he launched hsi first collaboration sneaker with artist Jef Staple.

The sneaker industry in Southeast Asia is expected to see almost 3% growth by 2024, with an estimated market volume of 31.77 million pairs by 2028, according to statistical analysis site 'Statista'.

Sneaker Con founder Alan Vinogradov said the event wanted to embrace the early stages of Southeast Asia's emerging sneaker culture.

The event includes a 'trading pit' where sneakers are exchanged or sold, and a giveaway raffle that had attendees jumping with excitement at the chance to win their favourite pair.
