Police say Highland Park shooting suspect drove to Madison, 'seriously contemplated' attack there

After the suspect in the Highland Park, Ill., mass shooting was formally charged with seven counts of first-degree murder on Wednesday, Lake County Major Crime Task Force spokesperson Chris Covelli spoke to reporters outside the courthouse. Covelli said Robert Crimo III drove to Madison, Wis., after he allegedly killed seven people and injured more than 30 others during a July 4 parade in Highland Park, and “seriously contemplated” committing another shooting during a celebration there.
