While filming great white sharks for "shark week," this film crew witnessed a life and death struggle for a seal on August 8.
The filmer said: "We set off from the Mossel Bay, South Cape, South Africa to Seal Island, which is a 10-minute boat ride. The island is 800 meters from a busy swimming beach. The seal manages to evade the young, inexperienced shark's first three attempts at a kill. The seal then dived down under the water and never came back up, suggesting that the shark found its meal. The unlucky seal was one of five that set out from the island. This type of interaction is common in that area but difficult to predict, making it hard to film. It's definitely not the best neighborhood to live in if you’re a seal."
