The Swinsty Reservoir is part of a chain of reservoirs in the Washburn Valley used by Yorkshire Water to supply drinking water to Leeds and the surrounding areas. Pictured here on August 5 is a significant area of dry land in the reservoir basin, which usually sits below the water line.
Nearby in the Lindley Wood Reservoir, dry land can be seen again.
The recent heatwave in July, and continuing hot weather, has caused the water of the reservoir to shrink.
