Stage 61 saw the torch pass a medieval castle in the Montmorency Forest and the Town Hall at Auvers - a building immortalized in Impressionist art by Vincent Van Gogh's eponymous painting - as well as taking in some of the regions sports ground and facilities.

Retired French Judoka and Seoul 1988 Olympic silver medallist Brigitte Deydier then lit the cauldron in Soisy-sous-Montmorency.

The relay continues on Saturday in the Seine-et-Marne department and will culminate with the lighting of the cauldron in the host city Paris during the opening ceremonies of the Games.

The 2024 Paris Olympics will be held from July 26 - August 11, while the Paralympics will run from August 28 - September 8.
