Pepsi set to get first Tesla electric trucks

STORY: Tesla’s electric trucks could finally be about to roll off the production line.

Elon Musk says the first examples of the Semi will be delivered to PepsiCo on December 1.

He had originally said the big rigs would go into production in 2019.

But the date was repeatedly pushed back due to parts shortages.

Musk says the vehicles will have a range of about 500 miles.

They will cost about $180,000 each, but qualify for a $40,000 tax break.

PepsiCo ordered 100 Semis back in 2017, as part of moves to cut emissions.

It has said it will use them to ship snack foods and beverages between manufacturing and distribution centres, and to retailers.

Pepsi had no immediate comment on Musk’s promise of a December debut for the trucks.
