:: "About 30 minutes ago, I received a call that a dolphin had been found on the river bank, so we immediately went to the site."

The dolphin appeared to be a boto, or Amazon river dolphin, the largest of the freshwater dolphins, according to the American Cetacean Society.

The ACS says the boto's coloration can range from soft and rosey "to an almost shocking pink."

The Amazon river dolphin is endangered due to hunting and loss of habitat, according to the ACS.
