Police Praise Boat Crew's Help in Rescue of Woman From Submerged Car

Police in Gloucester City, New Jersey, praised three “good Samaritans” who brought a boat to help officers save a woman whose car had plunged into the Delaware River on April 28.

Bodycam footage released by the department shows a car upside down in the water. Officers Sean Gartland and John Bryszewski Jr and Sergeant Carlos Depoder were on the scene to get the woman out, police said.

Police also thanked three mariners who brought a boat over to help get the woman to dry land. Michael Natrin, Stratis Tiniakos, and Gene Blemmings, who were nearby working on a barge, got into a small vessel to help, transporting the driver and the officers to a floating dock, police said.

“Without their help, we would not have been able to remove the female from the water in such an expeditious manner and render life-saving treatment,” a statement said.

The woman was in critical condition at a nearby hospital, police told ABC6. Credit: Gloucester City Police Department via Storyful
