Govt. shutdown: Far-right GOP has become 'an extremist movement,' strategist says

A government shutdown is just days away from the October 1 deadline. In an exclusive interview with Yahoo Finance Live, Former U.S. Vice President Mike Pence (R) said, "about the government shutdown... House Republicans are the last line of defense for taxpayers in Washington, D.C." Political Strategist and The Warning Founder-Host Steve Schmidt joins Yahoo Finance Live to discuss Pence's comments and a potential government shutdown.

"The most important thing to recognize is the degree in Mike Pence’s statement is how much gaslighting is involved in that. Mike Pence was the Vice President of the most profligate, biggest spending administration in American history," Schmidt notes.

Schmidt adds that he would "tell most of [the Republican presidential candidates] to drop out of the race" over their lack of credibility and the ultimate truth they wouldn't influence House of Representatives' decisions.
