"We are all worried because the wind speed seems to be similar to that of Typhoon Mangkhut, so we're primarily concerned about flooding more than anything. If it floods, it will be disastrous for us because a lot of things will be lost, including items like refrigerators and washing machines. In our shop, we have two or three refrigerators for our bakery. If they all broke at once, recovery would be difficult. Not only would replacing that many refrigerators quickly be a challenge, but the cleanup would also take a long time.”

:: Yagi ranks as the second-most powerful

tropical cyclone of 2024 so far

Packing maximum sustained winds of 130 mph (209 kph) near its eye, Yagi ranks as the world's second-most powerful tropical cyclone of 2024 so far, trailing only the Category 5 Atlantic Hurricane Beryl.

At 6:20 pm local time (1020 GMT), the Hong Kong Observatory issued the No. 8 signal, with the warning expected to last until at least noon on Friday (September 6) as Super Typhoon Yagi edges closer to Hong Kong.
