Heavy rain and floods kill dozens in Pakistan

STORY: The rains began at the start of April and were forecast by the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) to affect most parts of the country.

Apart from those killed, dozens of others have suffered injuries from lightning strikes, buildings collapsing, and other weather-related incidents, local media reported, citing local authorities.

The PMD has forecast rain, windstorm and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall and hail storms for most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, Punjab, Islamabad and north Balochistan which could last until Monday (April 22). Snowfall has also been forecast on mountains in the northern areas of the country.
