One of the first things we learn in school is that man has developed from ancient apes through the process of evolution. Some apes decided they should climb down from the treetops and look for food on the ground and those who stayed evolved into the monkeys and apes we know today. One of those apes in the colorful orangutan, an ape so similar to man, they can surprise us sometimes!
The male Borneo orangutan Batu is following his son Basuki through the outdoor enclosure. He keeps trying to grab his son, but his son is getting away. Basuki is tumbling and stumbling and then climbs the net. He is not out of reach, so Batu pulls his son down. When the big male opens his mouth, it looks quite scary with his big teeth showing as if he wants to bite the babies head.
He then carries Basuki away, until Basuki wiggles free again and is trying once more to get away. Dad follows and grabs him back by his little arms and drags him and pushes him inside the door.
Batu was very determined to get his son inside, and Basuki didn't want to go. He did manage in the end, but it wasn't long before Basuki seems to escape again and came outside heading for the climbing net. When Batu came out back, little Basuki quickly led for his mom.
Are they showing human-like behavior? Is this dad trying to teach his son a lesson? We can see by his expression that the kid is naughty, and his dad does not like that. It's the same thing with our parents. We get in trouble; dad is angry at us, we run out to mom. A story of our lives too!
After all, orangutans are the closest relatives to humans. This conclusion is based on a close physical resemblance and also based on how their behavior. Orangutans share at least 28 unique psychical characteristics with humans.
These long-haired, orangish orangutans are highly intelligent and are one of the closest relatives to humans. Orangutans have a considerable arm length. A male may extend his arms somewhere in the range of 7 feet from fingertip to fingertip—an achieve significantly longer than his standing stature of around 5 feet. At the point when orangutans do stand, their hands almost contact the ground.
An interesting fact about them is that they are not very social animals, they loved to be alone and spent some alone-time hanging at some tree. Who doesn’t want to be alone sometimes chill all by yourself at your room? We all want that alone time!
Among the smartest primates, orangutans are skilled at utilizing some modern tool to find food and furthermore make sleeping homes every night from branches and leaves. They are very intelligent animals and they have been able to communicate with humans through sign language. Do you have any interesting facts about orangutans?
