Hundreds join Loch Ness monster hunt in Scotland

STORY: About one hundred volunteers were on site in the Scottish Highlands to scan the murky lake waters, while almost 300 signed up to monitor an online live stream of the search organized by the Drumnadrochit Loch Ness Centre and a volunteer research team called Loch Ness Exploration.

Participants flew drones with infrared cameras over Loch Ness and used a hydrophone to detect underwater sounds.

In 2019, scientists analyzed DNA traces to rule out the presence of large animals such as dinosaurs, concluding that the fabled Loch Ness monster could possibly be a giant eel.
