Out of This World: 'Alien' Disk of Ice Formed in Maine River

5 年前

A floating disk of ice has captured the interest of Westbrook, Maine residents as it appeared in the Presumpscot River and began spinning counterclockwise on January 15.

Todd Mckee was able to capture drone footage of the disk, measuring approximately 100 yards across, as it spun on Tuesday afternoon. Some scientists speculate that these disks form and spin due to temperature changes in the water below. Whatever the cause, this one created an interesting spectacle for local residents.
