Skiers, horses, and riders teamed up in a skijoring competition held in Browning, Montana, on Saturday, March 2.

Skijoring is a sport in which a skier is towed by a rider on a horse, usually running on separate tracks. Blackfeet Manpower, who hosted the competition, shared the rules on the event’s page.

Footage filmed by Joel Toppen shows a few contestants’ attempts at the course, some of which ended better than others.

“An icy track and sub-zero weather conditions made this year’s event extra challenging for participants,” Toppen told Storyful.

The National Weather Service warned locals and visitors of “sub-zero low temperatures” and “slippery road conditions” over the weekend. Credit: Joel Toppen via Storyful
