Sphere 'Melts' as Las Vegas Sees Record-Breaking Heat

The Sphere in Las Vegas, Nevada, “reacted” to record-breaking heat in the city with a melting animation on July 11.

Video filmed by @Mic_VegasSphere shows the playful orb “melting” on Thursday evening.

The National Weather Service (NWS) said the low for Las Vegas on July 11 was the same as the low in Death Valley: 98 degrees Fahrenheit. The agency recorded a reading of 115 degrees Fahrenheit just before 1 pm local time on Thursday, marking the sixth consecutive day of temperatures of 115 degrees or higher in the city.
