Orca Glides by Kayakers in Vancouver

Peter Meyrick Jones was kayaking with his father and their friend who is training to swim the English Channel when they encountered a pod of orcas in Batchelor Bay, West Vancouver, Canada, on August 9.

“We were near the end of our session when we came around Whyte Islet and immediately saw orcas in Batchelor Bay,” Jones told Storyful.

He recorded footage from his kayak as several of the killer whales glided through the water, only yards away from his kayak.

Jones alerted his friend who was training so that they could all observe the orcas together, saying they were “slightly concerned, and we held still as they came right beside and beneath our group.” Credit: Peter Meyrick Jones via Storyful
